Biography
In October 2019, she started her PhD Gerontology at the Vrije Universiteit van Brussel (VUB) at the project "Physical exercise to counter inflammation in ageing" under supervision of promotor prof. dr. Ivan Bautmans and copromotors prof. dr. Jan Gutermuth and prof. dr. Rose Njemini. She coordinate the SPRINT-study in which the effects of 3 months to 6 months resistance exercise on the immune system of older adults is investigated. Since 2020 she is member of the PhD commission.
Lene started in academic year 2023-2024 as teaching assistent in the Frailty research group and is finalizing her PhD.
She holds a bachelor's degree in Agro and Biotechnology and a master's degree in Biomedical Sciences.
