According to the World Health Organization (WHO), in the next 30 years, the world’s population aged 60+ years is projected to double from 1 billion in 2020 to nearly 2.1 billion in 2050. Taking this in consideration, it is important for countries to have well-equipped digital systems in place to support their ageing population. Development of The Integrated eco System for Healthy Ageing (ISHA) will result in a user-friendly tool to assess and monitor relevant domains of intrinsic capacity and functional ability in individuals allowing early detection and prevention of non-communicable diseases. The project will empower primary end-users while providing decision support for secondary end-users and gathering anonymized data to inform policy makers and researchers.
The ecosystem is a medical device class 2A composed of a hardware component (Eforto), a smartphone/tablet-based app that contains key testing tools for intrinsic capacity, and a central online platform for data monitoring and interpretation.
