Emelyn Mathot
Biography
Emelyn started her PhD within FRIA in October 2020 under supervision of prof. dr. Ivan Bautmans. She currently works within the SPRINT-study (Senioren PRoject INtensief Trainen), an ongoing interventional study aimed at identifying the effects of exercise on the immune system of adults aged 65 and over. Her PhD research is focussed on investigating the effect of strength training on the inflammatory profile of peripheral blood mononuclear cells in older persons.
Her research interests lie primarily within the field of exercise immunology and healthy ageing, with a particular interest for immunosenescence.
Emelyn is holder of a Master’s degree in Biomedical Sciences, which she obtained in 2020 at the Vrije Universiteit Brussel.
